The good news is the all-digital signal will provide a much clearer picture quality andAble to pick up more channels than you could with the old analog TV signal using the existing material. You can see all the local weather or sub-channels of news, you can control when you want.
I have also read that people nearby are the channels available in the state and in neighboring countries, as well as receive. Some people are always 30 or more channels. Much of this will depend on your location and the quality of your antenna.
So, sounds good, but there is another change that is needed for preparation, and is the TV that is used to measure the analog signal with either an internal or external, is now a Digital Converter Box application to convert the signals digital television work with analog.

Terk Technology HDTVi VHF/UHF HDTV Indoor Antenna Review
Nearly all of my local towers are only about 2 miles away, but there are several tall buildings between them and my home. Other than a permanent external antenna on the roof, this is the only one that has worked for me. Reception is perfect.
However, the design is ridiculously unstable. It looks nice, but it falls over if you just look at it funny. I have solved this with an easy modification, but am disappointed that it was necessary to do anything at all.
Easy Fix: - Small piece 1×10 or 1×12 stock, maybe 6 or 7 inches length to accommodate the base of the antenna front-to-back dimension. (To look nicer, I used a piece of that particle board shelving with the white finish on it.) - Three screws, 1-1/4″ self-drilling drywall screws or similar. (The black drywall screws are nice because the color makes them barely noticeable.)
The antenna is unstable side-to-side, not front-to-back so much. So, place the antenna on top of the board so that the long axis of the board (the 10″ or 12″ axis) extends out the sides. If using a finished product like the white shelving, this also has the advantage of presenting finished edges on the front and sides, with the cut edge hidden in the back.
The base of the antenna has a channel allowing you to run the cable to the front or to the rear of the antenna. Run the cable to the rear because we’ll use that circular notch at the front center where the two halves of the case come together. Drill one screw directly into the board, at the front of the antenna base, aligned with this notch, just tight enough to hold the base down.
At the rear of the antenna base, a black hard rubber piece extends out on both sides about a 1/2 inch. Drill one screw on each side, through this rubber piece and into the board, just tight enough to start to deform the rubber.
With these three points, the base is now reasonably secure. You can still move it side to side a little bit due to the flexibility of the rubber part you drilled through, but it won’t fall over.
Hope this helps!

Terk Technology HDTVi VHF/UHF HDTV Indoor Antenna Overview
The age of digital TV is here. It’s no longer a dream of the future. With it, over time, more TV stations will be broadcasting HDTV signals. If you want excellent over-the-air television reception, this TERK HD-TVi Indoor HDTV Antenna is the accessory you need now.TERK HD-TVi — The acknowledged leader in antenna technology has just introduced their first-ever Indoor HDTV Antenna. The high performance HDTVi is the only indoor antenna that receives both UHF and VHF signals (channels 2 - 69), providing reception of all local HDTV broadcasts.
Terk Technology HDTVi VHF/UHF HDTV Indoor Antenna Specifications
With over 1,000 stations in more than 200 markets broadcasting digital television as of 2003, 9 out of 10 households can now receive free high-definition (HDTV) signals when using the right antenna in conjunction with an integrated HDTV (or with a set-top box and an HD-ready television). Most antennas are large and unwieldy and need to be mounted outdoors or in a cramped attic. This is not an option if you live in an apartment or condo, or if you don’t want the hassle of installing an antenna yourself. The solution? A quality indoor antenna that can pick up all local HDTV channels; one that will look great next to your television, and one that is easy to install: Terk’s HDTVi indoor antenna. At the time of its release, the HDTVi was (and may yet be) the only indoor HDTV antenna optimized for both UHF and VHF reception, channels 2 to 69. The HDTVi elegantly solves the aesthetic challenge of integrating a log-periodic-type element assembly in an indoor antenna. It’s tuned for optimum HDTV reception with a unique design that uses log-periodic elements and dipoles for receiving both UHF and VHF HDTV broadcasts, bringing you more stations than lesser antennas. You can easily route the antenna’s output cable in 2 directions (front or back) for flexible cable management, and the antenna connects easily to your set-top box or television (integrated HDTV–with built-in ATSC tuner–required for direct connection). Its high gain picks up distant stations and its high back-to-front ratio rejects unwanted signals. You can mount the UHF antenna element vertically or horizontally, as experience dictates. Best small antenna for UHF AND VHF - Patrick W. Mackin - Birmingham, AL United States While most HDTV channels are UHF, I happen to live in a market with 4 UHF and 4 VHF signals. The VHF channels can be tough to receive, and many so called “HDTV” antennas don’t pick them up at all. But this hdtvi has 2 long rabbit ears for VHF. I use mine extended about 1/2 way (it depends on the target frequency you are aiming for–mine is Ch 9) and can pick up 7 of the 8 signals within 5 miles. The 8th station is 20 miles away and the hdtvi will pick it up from the attic when pointed directly at the VHF station. It’s nice to be able to point the VHF rabbit ears in one direction (flat, since the signals use horizontal polarity) and the UHF space age thingy in another direction, to maximize signal. Overall, I can’t give it 5 stars since it won’t work in all cases, but if you are <20 miles from the towers, this should be all you need. If you need a better antenna, the Channel Master 3016 is a great attic antenna. Bottom line is this is an awesome antenna for the price! Note: I am using this on my pc and had to manually add several channels to Windows Media Center as it didn’t automatically scan them, but the antenna still receives them fine!
good antenna for the price - Tony Tsai - Walnut, CA good enough, saw all the games in HD!
however, should of got the one with amp, it would of cost more, but, i’m curious how that help with receptions for the signal. wondering if they can be bought separately.
Worked much better than a standard ‘loop’ antenna - Stephen - San Francisco, CA This antenna really works well for me. I have had trouble getting good HDTV / UHF reception in my apartment and have tried two different loop antennas (one of them amplified) and this one works much better. I think it deals well with multiple path situations where the different paths tend to cancel out at the antenna. This antenna is directional so picks out one stong path and rejects the interference. Very happy customer here after months of fiddling around (unsuccessfully) with other antennas!

RCA ANT1450B Multi-Directional Digital Flat Amplified Home Theater Antenna (Black) Review
First off, I live in semi-rural Montana, about 6 miles outside Helena. According to [...], the 8 channels received in my area are all broadcast stations ranging from 13.5 miles to 18.4 miles from my home. Most of the people we know in our area have switched to cable or satellite, due to the difficulty of capturing a decent signal. Case in point, my upstairs television is currently utilizing TWO HDTV antennas hooked up in series (the first amplified, the second not), and I STILL have trouble with catching all of our channels without periodically tweaking the rabbit ears. I now plan on replacing these antennae with another of the antenna being reviewed.
I absolutely hate having rabbit ears stretched all over the room and still not getting a decent signal, so I was really intrigued by this antenna when I saw it at the store. No ugly, overly-sensitive metal sticks obstructing a room; not even the multi-directional UHF panel that most antennas have. Since I’m so accustomed to manually tweaking the configuration of these other highly-configurable antennas, I was VERY skeptical that a flat paneled antenna that just SITS there could possibly pick up all my channels. At least not as well as my rabbit ears. I was wrong.
I replaced this antenna (Philips MANT-310 Amplified Indoor Antenna), which was hooked up to my HDTV in the basement with sketchy signal quality. The reviewed antenna worked awesome, right off the bat (with the amplifier attached, of course). The only times the signal suffered were when I placed the antenna too close to the TV or the stereo I use for amplification. It works best when laid flat on a surface, but I decided that I’d rather mount it on the wall, where it was least likely to be interfered with. I found a good spot and hung it up (using the included 2 screws), and all of channels work great; no interference even from people walking past it. And remember, this is in a BASEMENT (albeit a FINISHED basement, which meant that it still needed to look nice).
Since both my TV and the antenna are mounted on a wall with a closet behind it, I now plan to drill a hole behind the antenna, feed the coaxial cable through it, route the cable through the closet, then bring the cable back through the wall into a wall-mounted cable jack behind the TV. This will minimize the amount of cable strung along the wall and turn this antenna into what appears to be a small, standalone black rectangle on the wall; nowhere NEAR as hideous as a rabbit-ear assembly (or worse yet, multiples in series).

Good, cheap antenna that works as advertised - Ryan - Kentucky According to [...], I needed a small multidirectional antenna. I live in a single story, suburban area with no major obstructions to signal degradation nearby. The big 4 network towers (yellow colored on [...]) are all 17-18 miles away from my house, all within 3-4 degrees of each other. I ended up just buying the RCA multi-directional digital flat amplified antenna model # ANT1450B at Walmart, thinking it probably wouldn’t be adequate, but would be an easier return than shipping something back to Amazon. I’m pleased to report that I get ABC, NBC, FOX, PBS, and CBS without any problems, which corresponds to the “yellow” channels on [...]. I can’t receive any of the red or violet channels, but didn’t expect too. Set up was very easy, just plugged the antenna into the pre-amp and plugged the unit into the TV antenna in. Very pleased with this antenna and would definitely recommend with the above parameters.
waste of money - dani d. - If you are not crazy about the design the antenna ia a waste of money as it is no better than the rabits years ones. I’m keeping it only because I have no time to deal with returns and stuff. So, yes, it is working, but a 7 dollars device will do the same job.
Excellent! Great reception - Dave CR - California OK, the thing looks like it isn’t going to work. It’s just a flat piece of plastic, so I kept my receipt in my wallet.
I live about 30 miles east of Los Angeles, Ca. I don’t have cable because I watch very little TV. I hooked it up and did my channel scan and got every channel! Amazing! I had to fiddle with the position a bit to get channel 11 (fox) they have a weak, weak signal, but I got it.
Give it a shot, it worked great for me.
Yeah, it’s just a flat piece of plastic but it works.
